OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, announced a deal valued at $38 billion (approximately 204 billion kwanzas) with AWS, Amazon's cloud computing division, to strengthen its artificial intelligence development capabilities.
With this investment, the company takes another step in its ambition to expand its computing and storage power, forging strategic partnerships with giants like Amazon and chip manufacturers to secure an advantage in the global race for AI.
OpenAI's main goal is to become the first company to create an artificial general intelligence (AGI) – a system capable of matching the full range of human intellectual capabilities.
“Developing the most advanced AI requires robust and reliable computing capabilities,” said Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI. “Our partnership with AWS strengthens the ecosystem that will support this new phase and make advanced AI accessible to everyone.”
The announcement had an immediate impact on the market: Amazon's shares rose on the New York Stock Exchange, and Nvidia also benefited, as its chips will be used in this technological collaboration.
