Pay-TV operators in the country are currently complaining about theft of their equipment and where they have already informed the National Institute of Communications (INACOM) about this situation, reveals the newspaper Expansion.

According to the Angolan newspaper, national operators complain about constant and recurrent thefts of their technical materials, as well as the misuse of their infrastructures, which are placed along the route until reaching customers' homes, and where accuse pirates of being the authors of these thefts.

The companies' entourage alleges that INACOM has not done anything to stop these incidents, and where these thefts have been aimed at equipment for improving the quality and expansion of pirated services, which has “caused massive financial damage” as it is imported material, causing a breakdown in customer service and delays in installing new subscribers.

Pay-TV operators also say that this phenomenon has aggravated the deteriorating state of confidence of operators' subscribers, as the idea they are left with is "is that the contracted services do not have quality".

BUT: Piracy and crisis take almost 300 thousand subscribers to pay television operators in the country

Although this type of crime can inhibit investment in equipment and the expansion of services, operators say they have been making a huge financial effort to restore services and increase signal quality.

According to several sources heard by the newspaper Expansão, it is difficult to estimate the damage caused in numbers, but they believe that the situation is very “serious when one thinks that these thefts are financing a parallel activity that is illegal and that does not pay taxes or generate wealth for the country🇧🇷 These crimes have been committed for years with “some connivance of the national police“, according to another operator. 🇧🇷When the forces of order intervene, the results are not satisfactory.“, he complains.

Still on this path, the operators confirm that they have notified the competent authorities about the occurrence of several thefts and misuse of the TV signal, and where INACOM is aware of the occurrences, but little or nothing has been done.

On the other hand, sources linked to INACOM, consulted by the newspaper Expansão, also reveal that the regulator recognizes that operators have filed complaints and that there is piracy in pay-TV services. And, without going too far into the matter, he guarantees that the regulator “is developing a comprehensive program focusing on awareness raising and criminalization” to try to stop the advance of these crimes.
