A Japanese beverage maker Otsuka wants to be the first company in the world to advertise on the moon. The brand will send a can with one of its products to the Moon in October 2015. The container, made of titanium, will have 1 kg of Pocari Swet, powdered sports drink that must be mixed with water to be consumed. The idea of the company is to encourage young people who want to become astronauts so they can travel the 380.000 miles to our nearest celestial neighbor to consume the drink.

It will be transported by means of a capsule on the Falcon 9 rocket, which has already been to the space station for refueling three times. But this mission is planned for October 2015. The Griffin spacecraft, owned by the private company Astrobotic Technology, will be responsible for placing the can on the surface of the Moon.

Astrobotic specializes in technologies to remove space junk. According to The Verge, the company charged $ 500 thousand to do the service but got involved in the project because of a prize from Google that offered $ 20 million to the first company that managed to stay at least 500 meters from the lunar surface and transmit images in high resolution to Earth.

The capsule will also contain a silver disc in which will be etched the dreams of children from all over Asia, collected in the middle of a campaign. Pocari Sweat, with its citrus flavor, will become the first drink to reach the surface of the moon.
