A Africell started the operation to clients in Angola. The entry of a new independent operator brings a new wave of competition to the Angolan telecommunications sector and highlights remarkable efforts to open up the Angolan economy.

The launch of Africell in Angola is an important step forward in the group's mandate to positively transform the country's digital landscape. In addition to introducing new mobile products and services, Africell has been generating thousands of jobs and creating a technological platform that will boost related sectors such as education, economy and entertainment.

Africell Angola will offer new customers free calls within the Africell network. Customers can also take advantage of the 4G Africell network with data packages up to half the price of competing offers, with 1GB of data costing just 750KZ.

The launch of Africell's customer service operation takes place just fourteen months after obtaining Angola's 4th unified global telecommunications title. To date, more than US$150 million has been invested in building a 5G-ready network, with an initial capacity of over 6 million subscribers. Partnerships with technology leaders including Nokia, Oracle, Angola Cables and MSTelcom promise Angolan mobile users unprecedented quality of service.

With a population of over 30 million and one of the largest economies in the region, Angola is a leader in sub-Saharan Africa. However, compared to other regional markets, its telecommunications sector has historically shown low levels of competition and limited/concentrated investment. The launch of Africell in Angola intends to contribute to reversing this situation, allowing consumers more choice, improving coverage and expanding public access to essential digital products and services.

"Angola is a country with enormous potential”, diz Ziad Dalloul, President and CEO of the Africell Group. “The Angolans have a unique energy that makes this country an attractive place to invest". Over the past twenty years, Africell has developed the experience and capabilities to embrace this opportunity: to bring competition to a large new market and to use our network to stimulate economic growth and social development. Africell is making a long-term commitment to Angola and we are excited to be launching a brand the country can be proud of".
