Charging your phone, tablet or other gadget can be a daunting task for those who live in countries where electricity is not yet stable. Angola and other African countries can easily join this list. What if you could charge your phone using solar power?
For this to happen two methods would be practical:
1. Put a solar panel on the back of the phone. Disadvantage: we would have to turn the phone to be able to carry it. Not practical.
2. Put a solar panel on the front, where we currently have the screen. Until sometime this would be unintelligent, since most of the solar panels are not transparent.
But to do away with this disadvantage, researchers at Michigan State University in the United States have created a more efficient transparent solar panel than the ones that already circulate. In the first tests, it was verified that the panel converts 1% of the light passing through it into electrical energy. The objective is to increase this efficiency by up to 5% or 7%, so our devices charge faster.
When completed, these panels can be deployed across multiple devices, which will allow some of them to stay days without plugging in.
