We recently published a news which reported that Apple had bought the company responsible for creating the sensors of the first Xbox Kinect, PrimeSense. It was not long before we realized a little bit of this acquisition.

This Tuesday, 3, Apple filed a facial recognition patent at the United States Patent Office. One of the goals to achieve with this patent is that iDispositive block access to certain applications by people other than its owner. For example if someone is messing with your iPhone or iPad it may block access to emails, sms's, documents, etc.

Other rumors suggest that one option would be to use this technology on the locked screen so people would not have access to their notification center or to use different applications just by changing their facial expression.

We'll see if we'll ever see facial recognition or motion sensors on the next iPhone / iPad or we'll still have to wait some time.
