Playstation 5: New system software update is available

2030

Sony has released a new software update for the Playstation 5 system globally (PS5) that includes 1440p resolution support, a new Playlists feature, and social and UX improvements. Testing for 1440p on PS5 started in July and now all PS5 owners will be able to access the software update.

A new 1440p option allows PS5 owners to choose that resolution on compatible TVs and monitors. If the games fully support 1440p then they will automatically play at that resolution, otherwise 4K games will improve the anti-aliasing using supersampling up to 1440p output. The only downside is that variable refresh rate (VRR) will not be supported at 1440p and will only work at 1080p and 4K on PS5.

BUT: Sony: The new Playstation 5 has been completely redesigned

There is a limit of 15 total game lists, and disc, digital, and streaming games can be added to the lists.

Sony has also added new social features, including the ability to request a screen share from a friend in a party, user profile UX improvements, and notifications to help PS5 owners get into a game quickly in party chat. . You'll also be able to send stickers and voice messages in group chats now, and easily compare the difference between 3D audio and normal stereo settings before switching.
