PlayStation 5 resulted from “brutal meetings” with developers

PlayStation 5 developer Mark Cerny gave an interview to Wired, where he spoke about the development process of Sony's console, revealing that the design was influenced by meetings with production companies and game development studios.

The executive informed that this type of approach during the development of a console is “quite recent”, and that these constructive conversations with game producers are aimed at understanding what is really important to them.

"I'm looking for the developers who make my life more difficult and those who have the strongest opinions about what they need to make the game they dream of. These are brutal meetings, but they're good because, in the end, you're making a stronger console.”, says Cerny.

BUT: Sony has sold 13,4 million units of Playstation 5

It should also be noted that, in addition to having started the development of the PlayStation 5 with some ideas of its own and a list of features that they were unable to include in the predecessor, Cerny noted that he ended these meetings with a long list “of all the things the game development community would like to have".

One of the most frequent requests was to move away from rigid speeches, which allowed for faster loading times in open world games.
