Next November, the winner of the National Science and Innovation Award will be announced, which comes to stimulate and recognize the contribution of scientific researchers, inventors and innovators from Angola and abroad residing in the national territory, who stand out in this area, to sustainable development from the country.
The information was revealed by the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESCTI), Maria do Rosário Bragança, during the opening speech of the first season of the Conexões Program, highlighting that in the near future they will publish a notice with the requirements for applying for the award.
The notice, he explained, for the presentation of application requirements, will be published this month, as well as the composition of the jury. “With the launch today, we will be in a position to award the prize in November"He assured.

The minister also reinforced the announcement of the opening, in 2025, of the Luanda Science and Technology Park, under construction in the Maianga Urban District. With the completion of the infrastructure works, he said, the facilities will bring together companies, Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), research and development organizations, business incubators and laboratories to promote projects and activities of technological development, innovation and entrepreneurship.
MESCTI, he added, is developing the Innovation and Technology Transfer Promotion Program of the National Development Plan for the period 2023/27, with priority given to strengthening the National Science, Technology and Innovation System.
Technology and innovation, he acknowledged, stand out as fundamental pillars for the future, with areas in everyday life such as energy, agriculture, waste management and circular economy, education and digital inclusion, health and well-being.
