O rupture of several submarine cables in the Red Sea could affect Angolans' internet in the coming days, according to various information that reached the MenosFios newsroom.

According to what was revealed by a source at Angola Cables, although it does not directly affect connections in Angola, the problem causes a global problem, since the Internet is a network of networks and is completely interconnected. Therefore, Angolan users may experience a drop in the internet signal in their data package, regardless of the operator.

"The cables are interconnected. The redundancy routes have been activated, but there are consequences. Europe, for example, is having its traffic diverted to Los Angeles, in the United States, and then going to Asia. The Internet works, but is overloaded. Traffic here in Africa and South America will be impacted. Unfortunately we will have more demand”, He revealed.

It should be noted that much of the international Internet traffic to Asia is being carried by submarine cables operated by Angola Cables, via South Africa, to reach Singapore.

The source also says that data from the United States is being sent from the Miami interconnection point to Fortaleza (via Monet cable). From there, they are sent to the interconnection point in Luanda (via the South Atlantic Cable System, SACS). In Europe the procedure is being the same, with the data being sent to Luanda, along the west coast of Africa (via the West Africa Cable System, WACS).
