President of the Republic inaugurates technological incubator

The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, inaugurated today(18), an incubator aimed at boosting telecommunications, information technology and IT technicians, as well as small, medium and large companies, in order to strengthen this sub-sector of national economy.

Located in the CTT area, in the urban district of Rangel, in the municipality of Luanda, the technological incubator is called digital.ao, it is an infrastructure budgeted at 1.3 billion kwanzas, and the construction of the infrastructures began in 2016, but, for objective reasons, was paralyzed, having resumed in 2019, and was built with the aim of transforming innovative ideas in productive and sustainable businesses, focusing on emerging Startups throughout the national territory.

According to what was revealed, Digital.ao is a platform that provides for the search and offer, to the market, highly qualified and competent technicians and professionals, to encourage employment and self-employment, as well as the emergence of Startups with the capacity to provide solutions to the needs of the Angolan market.

This will be able, through specializations, as well as the incubation space, to offer resources and procedures that allow companies to work in a safer, more professional, more modern digital environment through services such as registration and hosting of .ao domain, e-mail corporate, software factory.

The project is supervised by the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technology and Social Communication (MINTTICS), counting, however, on the support of several partners such as Huawei, Afrione, the African Development Bank and the World Bank.

Structurally speaking, the Digital.ao comprises two buildings. The first has three floors and includes multifunctional spaces, a videoconference room, a computer repair laboratory and a software factory.

The second building, with one floor, is aimed at technical and professional qualifications, has, in addition to other compartments, specialization rooms in repair, maintenance and configuration of computers, printers and mobile phones, as well as in analogue, digital and robotic electronics.

With the launch of MINTTICS, the Technological Incubator Digital.ao, emerges to overcome the constraints imposed by Covid-19 in the generation of employment and in the promotion of self-employment, through its various specializations.
