Technological projects in Angola do not become a business due to lack of support

Several innovative technological projects do not advance due to lack of business and institutional support from the Angolan State, according to the general director of the Telecommunications Institute (ITEL), Cláudio Gonçalves.

According to the academic, who spoke in an interview with News, the lack of support is an old problem in Angola, as there is still a very timid collaboration between the academies and businessmen. But he believes that, with the emergence of digital, a national technological incubator, will be the beginning of a new era for projects.

"Each and every country can develop if it joins the business, academic and government sectors. The three need to be united, because the government will bring the necessary regulations, benefits and facilities for the business sector to invest in academic initiatives. So, when the three walk together, the projects will have another dynamic“, said the Director General.

Cláudio Gonçalves also stressed that the young Angolan students have knowledge of entrepreneurship, but they also need to mature the projects so that they are commercially viable, although the big problem is the lack of business support.

Therefore, in the words of ISUTIC's computer engineering professor, Silva Vunda, financing is one of the most delicate aspects in the transformation of a project into a business, where students must be taught how to compile market information, study feasibility and have a good business plan, because otherwise the projects will continue without legs to walk.

"It is true that it is not easy, but entrepreneurs also need to start looking at these projects and believing more in what is being done and in what can happen in the future, because if this boldness does not exist, obviously, there will be no new paths“, he reiterated.
