Video Surveillance Bill approved by the National Assembly

The Council of Ministers recently considered and approved a proposed Video Surveillance Act, which establishes the installation and use of surveillance cameras at critical points previously identified by law enforcement authorities. After this stage, the same law was sent to the National Assembly for final approval.

Three months after being referred, the deputies to the National Assembly unanimously approved, on Tuesday, the bills aimed at safeguarding public security and tranquility. The Video Surveillance Bill, with six chapters, three sections and 38 articles, aims to improve the means and security measures of an operational and technological nature.

The purpose of the law is to enable public security and domestic authorities to efficiently and effectively combat crime and other current phenomena, such as the growing threat of terrorist actions in many countries.
