A few years ago, most of the traffic generated from Angola was forced to transit international connections, due to the limited interconnection capacity between providers. The use of IXP (Internet Exchange Point) represents an alternative, allowing Internet service providers to interconnect without having to resort to international circuits, which in practice could reduce broadband costs and, therefore, their prices.

Aiming to mark the first anniversary of Angonix, an Internet traffic exchange platform, will take place next March 16 in Luanda, Angola, the first "Angonix 2016 Forum: Economy and Connectivity". The event will address the impact of sharing of traffic and content between internet service providers (ISPs) in the global development of the internet, as well as its role in promoting the digital economy.

During the forum there will be a round table on “The Role of IXP's in the development of digital markets"And will bring together, for the debate members of the government, representatives of Angolan internet companies and international guests. The Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technologies, José Carvalho da Rocha, will be responsible for chairing the forum.

Angonix is an internet traffic exchange and data aggregator, located in Luanda, the capital of Angola, in the SADC region of West Africa, which connects global networks, network operators and content providers to maintain local traffic and offers content providers and international networks the means to establish themselves in Africa.

This kind of forums may not have immediate repercussions, but in the future Internet users will be able to look back and recognize the improvements.
