Starlink DRC SA, the Congolese subsidiary of US satellite operator Starlink, has officially obtained a telecommunications network and services license in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Congolese Post and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (ARPTC) announced in a press release published over the weekend.
According to the ARPTC, this license was issued in accordance with current regulations, following the regularization of the company's administrative situation. Starlink is now authorized to operate as an Internet service provider in Congolese territory and plans to launch its services in the coming days.

Starlink, which currently operates the world's largest satellite constellation – with more than 6.750 spacecraft in orbit – provides low-latency broadband internet connections to millions of customers in several countries, including in rural and remote areas.
The company's official arrival in the DRC comes against the backdrop of closer diplomatic ties between Kinshasa and Washington, with a series of strategic projects underway.
