The 5G network will dominate mobile connections by 2026, although 4G will be a dominant technology in 2021, according to the executive director of Ernest & Young (EY), Pedro Novo.

Speaking of Conference on Digital Transformation, the expert reported that 4G already represented 47,42% of the mobile market globally in 2021, however, 5G is gaining strength in new markets.

For him, with the growth of 5G mobile connections, mobile broadband connections are gaining momentum globally, driven by the demand for high-speed networks.

BUT: Angolan government will reinforce investments in 5G technology

In turn, Asia and Africa are emerging and fueling revenue and mobile subscribers, two thirds of these regions will have, by 2025, 382 million new subscribers.

Many governments across Africa have been incredibly optimistic that technological advances are the key to pulling Africans out of the developing and into the developed space. One of these emerging technologies with a lot of weight and emphasis is 5G technology. Some analysts predict that the 5G could add USD 2,2 trillion to Africa's economy by 2034.

However, countries across the continent are struggling to roll out the new technology due to infrastructure challenges, adoption issues, the expensive nature of the technology and the devices needed to use it, and even security concerns surrounding 5G.
