The Multicaixa Network processes more than 120 million financial operations, which represents more than 1,9 billion kwanzas, according to the Executive Director of Interbank Services Company (EMIS), DuanoSilva.

The manager who was speaking at the Press Conference alluding to the 21st anniversary of the Multicaixa Network said that, as a whole, there are 3,1 ATMs, around 150 Automatic Payment Terminals (APT) and more than 750 Multicaixa users Express.

Duano Silva informed that in the last three months there were more than 300 million transactions in Multicaixa services.

The event also served to reveal that the “Digital Citizen” project aims to promote the safe use of digital channels, making known its best usage practices and ways to avoid the financial threats that users face on these platforms.

BUT: EMIS invests 20 million USD/year in new technologies

According to the Administrator, the aforementioned project aims to introduce new habits, avoid risky behavior and change mindsets so that, as well as users, companies are one step ahead of fraudsters.

The process started in Luanda and will grow in other provinces over time. Presentations are already being held at schools, universities and companies, public and private, in order to create this awareness of digital security.

Duano Silva reiterated that this project arose from the need to strengthen financial literacy, because unfortunately fraud happens with the “support” of the victim himself, due to lack of information. And since the cybernetic world is relatively new, there is a need to create specific laws to regularize the area.

Joaquim Caniço explained that the cyber world is still a jungle, underlining that until November last year, EMIS recorded an increase of 2.294 compared to 2021, to 4.587 computer crimes.
