Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) of Brazil shared a decree confirming that all requirements have been met for X to be unlocked in the country.
It is worth remembering that the social network (formerly known as Twitter) had blocking order signed at the end of August, a decision taken by the STF after the owner of X, Elon Musk, violated Brazilian law and did not appoint any legal representative for the company in Brazil.
Musk closed X's offices in Brazil, justifying the decision with the need to protect the company's employees, who were being pressured to block accounts that had been reactivated after the January 8 attacks in the capital Brasília.
BUT: X (formerly Twitter) has suspended millions of accounts for breaking the rules
All these events – and the the fact that X was momentarily available during the blockade – led to an accumulation of fines totaling nearly 5 million euros. Despite the setbacks, the fines were duly paid and X can finally be back up and running for Brazilian internet users.
“TAll the requirements necessary for the immediate return of X Brasil Internet LTDA's activities in national territory were proven by documents and certified by the Judicial Secretariat", says the document signed by Moraes and shared by the CanalTech website. "In view of the above, I decree the end of the suspension and authorize the immediate return of X Brasil Internet Ltda's activities in national territory.".
It is now up to the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) to take the necessary measures to reactivate the social network in the country, with operators now having the 'green light' to lift the restrictions placed on the Android and iOS virtual stores and also on the X website.
