The shortlist includes a range of players from the world of football, including household names such as Ballon D'or winners Luka Modrić, Karim Benzema and Lionel Messi, as well as young stars such as Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka and Aurelien Tchouameni.
Players who emerged as stars for their country at the 2022 FIFA World Cup have also found their way onto the shortlist of TOTY nominees, including Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou and defensive midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.
