The rumor is part of a team of developers of the own Microsoft and that says that change was to happen already in the 11 version of IE. Fortunately or unfortunately this did not happen, but Microsoft has not yet completely ruled out the idea.
The decision to move is allied to the "bad name" that IE has been carrying and accumulating over time and is becoming an increasingly heavy burden of loading. Developers are noticing that regardless of the company's efforts at improving the browser, these efforts have proven to be useless due to the smudged inheritance that IE possesses.
Hence the decision of a change of interface, new features and a new strategy for the browser, but for this, they will have to do a total renovation, which should involve the name.
Let's wait and see if Microsoft is going ahead with this decision, but we believe that this is probably the best decision of the company now led by Satya Nadella.
