According to an expert, Vladimir Putin may proceed to cut submarine cables through which 97% of European internet data pass every day.
As can be read in the Italian newspaper Il Messaggero, among the possible targets in Moscow's sights are the submarine cables off the Irish coast, through which 97% of European internet data pass every day, in addition to 10 trillion dollars in financial transactions and confidential data. This cut could thus lead to a “devastating blackout".
There are long kilometers of these submarine cables, difficult to defend in their length and their sabotage would have a devastating effect on the entire continent and on the respective economies.

According to a US Navy military strategy expert, the cables can be attacked by submarines “hunter killer” by Putin, built specifically for this task. These subs would be equipped with robotic arms to tamper with or cut cables. Losharik spy submarines are transported under a huge submarine "mother ship” (the Belgorod) and built to hide at the bottom of the ocean.
The truth is that the threats are being left to the western world. Just this week a columnist for the RIA Novosti agency said that “if Russia decided to show what it is capable of, it would choose all sorts of objects close to the UK, including submarine cables and the same pipes, gas pipelines".
