Rupture of submarine cables affects Angola's international communications

According to Angola Cables, the consortia that manage the respective submarine systems are already working on repairing the cuts, with communications expected to be restored by the beginning of September.

A break in submarine cables, probably associated with strong currents in the Congo River, could affect communications in countries south of the Democratic Republic of Congo, with "a slight degradation in the quality of the Internet" expected to be felt in Angola, it was announced today. The simultaneous cut in the three main submarine cables (WACS, SAT3 and ACE), which connect the west coast of Africa to Europe, will have occurred more than 150 kilometers from the Congo River estuary, affecting mainly international communications with Europe, says a announcement from Angola Cables.

“At the moment, no further details are known about the exact location and cause of the cuts, but if the location is confirmed, it will not be the first time that the strong currents of the Congo River have caused disruptions in submarine systems”, points out the company.

According to Angola Cables, the consortia that manage the respective submarine systems are already working on repairing the cuts, with communications expected to be restored by the beginning of September.

In Angola, there will only be a slight degradation in the quality of the Internet and communications, as Angola Cables continues to guarantee Angolan international communications through an alternative route, provided by the SACS and Monet submarine systems, which connect Luanda to Brazil to the States United of America.

Angola Cables advances, in the note, that these ruptures are mainly caused by natural causes, which is why submarine cable networks and international operators have redundancy plans where Internet traffic can be diverted.

“In this case, the SACS cable is an important alternative that Angola offers to carry traffic while repairs are carried out”, says the operator.

  1. Bro, you should consider getting updates on the news that didn't come to a conclusion.
I've been following your site for a few years now, and the news ends the same way it starts, I don't know if I'm wrong, but it seems that it's not technological journalism.
Some topics do not arouse the reader's curiosity, when the reader returns 1 month or years later he does not find an update, you have been in the band for years, but it does not seem that the collaborators are looking for information, some news simply seems to be the summary of something what's going on, I don't feel a hint of you.

For example, this news has “the same” as the other sites/pages. I have a degree in Information Technology and Communications, and I would like to know which companies are involved, where they stand, etc., etc. And nobody has that information, think that you could make that difference, interview the affected companies and look for that information or the approximate one, and say “according to our investigations, we were able to determine x, or we were not able to determine y because it was information confidences, or by the xyz not having such information at the time we approached them”, etc. But something different that the band doesn't have.

Or rather, ask the questions you would like to know, or ask readers if they have questions, etc.

I don't know how many collaborators you have, and I know that this is also a barrier, and that here in Angola things are not like in more developed countries, but I see that it is possible to do a little more than what we have received from the journalists who report on of technology.

Menos Fios is a cool site, but I think they need to position themselves and go deeper, leave a mark in which people say “it's on Menos Fios”, as they say for Xaa or PlatinaLine.

Seek news, talk about problems and give your opinion according to industry standards and your experience or experienced people you interviewed, don't be just another website, be a school, a book.

Hang in there, I apologize if I misunderstood things and if I offended you.
