The case between Samsung and Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), reached the United States Supreme Court. The same entity said it had accepted the South Korean company's petition to review the case.

The case concerns the compensation that Samsung has to pay Apple for the use of unauthorized patents. At the end of 2015, it was established that the South Korean would have to pay more than 500 million dollars to the technology of Cupertino.

As early as 2011, Apple sued Samsung alleging that the design and components of the South Korean company's smartphones violated its patents. Subsequently, two courts were right and Samsung was ordered to pay $ 399 million in damages.

Samsung appealed the ruling and brought the case to the Supreme Court of the United States, which ruled this week that the company should not pay for the total sales of its smartphones but only for infringement of the patents used in the components.

“The case has always been about the blatant copy that Samsung makes of our ideas, and that has never been in dispute. We will continue to defend all the hard work that made the iPhone one of the most innovative and beloved products in the world. We remain optimistic that the lower courts will eventually send a strong message that it is not right to steal ”- informs Apple.

The case will now go to another court that will reevaluate the damages that the South Korean company must pay Apple.
