Oil and gas sector in Angola with low level of digital literacy

There is a clear absence of telecommunications infrastructure and information technologies in the oil and gas industries, which means little security and robust platforms to increase the productivity of national companies.

This information was revealed by the President of the Executive Board (PCE) of MSTelecom, Felisberta de Jesus, speaking on the sidelines of the Telecommunications and Innovations Conference, which took place last week in Luanda.

In its approach, and to exemplify, PCE reported that in its 23 years of existence, MSTelecom has invested around 30 million dollars in optical fiber throughout the country, and where in the coming times it expects to increase the productivity of companies in the oil and gas sector.

BUT: Angosat-2 will boost the Oil and Gas sector

Based on research carried out by the McKinsey consultancy on digital maturity, the Oil and Gas Industry, Felisberta de Jesus stresses that Angola still has a much lower level of maturity compared to other industries.

The current “major challenges” of companies in the sector were something that deserved to be highlighted in the PCE statements, highlighting the lack of telecommunications infrastructure and information technologies, information security and the search for solutions and platforms that can increase the productivity of their teams .

According to Felisberta de Jesus, digital transformation plays an important role in the development of the oil and gas sector, since the sector requires technologies to improve the productivity of companies over time.

Finally, he reiterated that MSTelecom, as a new operator of digital transformation, brings solutions and applications that help in the productivity of companies, as well as develops customized applications aiming at a better relationship with its partners and customers.
