The Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) of Cunene province recovered the 128 meters of 24-pair fiber optic cablesbelonging to the company Angola Telecom, stolen last October.

According to Beloune Carlos, SIC spokesperson and criminal investigation inspector, he informed that the cables were stolen on the section of road 105, which connects Ondjiva to the municipality of Ombadja, and collected in the town of Olukando, on the outskirts of 11 de Novembro airport.

Speaking at a press conference, he stressed that investigations continue in order to detain the presumed perpetrators in the short term, noting that during the act five hundred meters of fiber optic cables that connect the provinces of Cunene and Huila were subtracted.

BUT: Angola Telecom financially unable to continue normal course of business

It should be noted that Angola Telecom reinforced the need to guarantee security along its fiber optic cable line, so that situations of theft of this kind do not happen again, as it is a material that is very expensive in the market.

Therefore, the telecommunications company asks for the collaboration of traditional authorities and the population to control the line, as well as denounce individuals who try to vandalize it again.
