SME guarantees electronic passport for the end of the year

Since the end of 2017, Angolans are promised the arrival of the electronic passport, which has already been approved by the Council of Ministers, as well as by the National Assembly, and only the one delivered in force is missing.

Second Joao da Costa Dias (Director - General of the Migration and Foreigners service - SME), gave guarantees that the electronic passport should start operating in the last quarter of the current year.

The official, who was speaking at a meeting with the deputies of the III Commission of the National Assembly at the headquarters of the SME, indicated that the Executive is working quickly to bring about the entry into force of that document. "Angola has a defined period to present this document", he said, stressing that the Executive should be quick in the process of launching the electronic passport.

What aspects should electronic passports obey?

O The document is identified by a symbol, established internationally and stamped on the cover and which, among other components, includes an electronic device in which the biographical and biometric information of its holder is stored. The electronic passport integrates a new generation of devices, ranging from facial recognition to the integration of a “chip with or without contact”.
