A Sony informed workers in the Sony Interactive Entertainment division (which governs PlayStation) that it was, in fact, the target of a computer attack that ended up giving access to data from almost 6.800 workers and former employees of the company.

As the website Bleeping Computer reports, Sony states that the cyber attack was due to a vulnerability in file transfer software that Sony workers use, called MOVEit.

In conversation with IGN website, Sony clarified that it is currently investigating the matter with authorities. "Sony has disabled this server while the investigation takes place. At this time there is no indication that customer and partner data has been stored on the affected server. There was no impact on Sony's operations", can be read in the email sent by the Japanese technology company.

remember that the computer group responsible for the computer attack did not (allegedly) make any ransom request, leaving only one way for the company to get in touch to deal with the matter.
