Sony released the PlayStation 5 sales figure in its latest financial results presentation, where it was noted that the next-gen console numbers are being impacted by the global component shortage, largely because of the Covid-19.
In the third quarter of that year, Sony managed to sell 3,3 million PlayStation 5 units, which represents more than 2,2 million consoles compared to the previous quarter. According to what was released by the renowned platform Engadget, these numbers make the PlayStation 5 has sold a total of 13,4 million units. Until now.
BUT: Playstation 5 will support most PS4 games
Please note that despite these fantastic numbers, PlayStation 5 sales continue to 'suffer' with the shortage of components that is felt globally. So it's still difficult for Sony to get enough units to meet the demand for the next-gen console.
On the other hand, while PlayStation 5 sales numbers are increasing, PlayStation 4 is declining. According to the same data released, in the last quarter 500 million units of the 4 were sold, and where in the last three months the company only sold 200 thousand consoles.
