Accompanying the report on Sony's entertainment area, its president Jim Ryan gave good news for those who are still waiting for a PlayStation 5, more than a year and a half after its debut. Problems related to the semiconductor crisis due to the pandemic are still causing inconvenience to the manufacturer, but there is growing optimism and Sony hopes to increase production of the consoles in the near future.

According to Reuters agency, Sony stated that due to the lack of components, the PS5 has not yet surpassed the sales of its predecessor, but that difference will be closed in the third year after launch and in the following year it will even surpass the installed base of the PS4. It is the company's most optimistic forecast, numbers that could be historic if there were no semiconductor crisis.

"We are planning a strong increase in console production, to a level we have never reached before”, said Jim Ryan, referring to improvements related to assembly lines in China after the isolation of the pandemic.
