Certainly, many Angolans already know the Spotify platform, the music streaming platform that has over 217 million monthly active users worldwide, which include subscribers and users of the free version of the application. The platform has now decided to take a strategic look at Africa, with a launch to 39 more African nations in a matter of days.

Among the countries are: Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Capo Verde, Cameroon, Chad, Comoros, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Estwani, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea and Guinea Bissau. The rest are Ivory Coast, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Nigeria and Rwanda. Others include São Tomé and Príncipe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

For this expansion, the company announced that it will also introduce new features and update its podcast catalog to adapt to new markets.

How did Angolans use Spotify without the service being available in Angola?

Before this latest expansion, users in the Angolan market only had access to the streaming service via VPN, others registered their accounts as users in other countries such as Portugal, Brazil, etc.

Currently in Africa, the music streaming market has competitors such as audio mack, Youtube music, Apple Music, Shazam, Deezer and local platforms like MTN MusicTime e boom play.
