Last Friday (12 / 04) the 1º StartupDojo Angola was held. It was a relaxed meeting that brought together startups, programmers, marketers, students and enthusiasts of digital entrepreneurship with the aim of sharing ideas and learning new practices related to matter. The StartupAngola Association, a non-profit organization that aims to foster digital entrepreneurship in Angola, providing support and follow-up to digital entrepreneurs, the event was held in one of the GBT Training Center - Technologies.

Dimonekene Ditutala, speaking to young digital entrepreneurs

As guest speaker of the day, Eng. Dimonekene Ditutala, who has been working in IT since 1983, is an IT Manager at Sonangol, was a university professor and is also a Master in Strategic Direction and Innovation Management. He visited the famous Silicon Valley - USA, where the headquarters of most of the great technology companies in the world, such as Apple and Microsoft, are located, closely following the climate of innovation and entrepreneurship at the highest level, characteristic of that place and shared in the Dojo all that experience with those present.

And it was not only that, there was also a debate among the "startupers" about some more technical aspects of startups companies, such as Business Model, method Lean Startup e MVP (Minimum Viable Product), at the end of the meeting the participants divided into two teams that will be responsible for developing a startup each, with the commitment to be presented at the 2013 National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Fair in Luanda during the Workshop “Startups: Digital Entrepreneurship”.

Possibly, you may be asking yourself now "what is a startup?" (if they haven’t done a Google search yet). A startup is a group of people looking for a business model based on technology and innovation, which is repeatable and scalable, using platforms such as the web and mobile, big companies like Google, Facebook, YouTube started as a simple startup in a garage or a quarter of college students and became billionaire companies. Is it possible in Angola? The most correct answer is “it will be possible” at least in the near future and what StartupAngola is doing is taking the first step. Soon I will publish another more in-depth article on the subject.

In short, the event was very productive and inspiring for young digital entrepreneurs who are now immersed in the adventure of creating the next “Facebook” even with the difficulties that our country (still) has. Finally, have fun with the photo gallery. If you want to be part of StartupAngola, visit the Facebook group.
