The Luanda Surface Metro will feature cutting-edge technology from the multinational Siemens, specifically from its mobility department, costing the public coffers more than three billion dollars.

The transport infrastructure that comes to accompany the demographic growth of the country's capital, is co-financed by the Ministry of Finance and the private sector, and the 39-kilometer double track line is known as the “Yellow Line”.

The Luanda Surface Metro will connect the port area of Luanda to the City of Kilamba, created in 2008, with Siemens Mobility being responsible for supplying “68 four-car light vehicles".

BUT: Siemens technology will equip Pedro Maria Tonha “Pedale” Hospital Complex

The Surface Metro line will be 149 kilometers long. It will cover the main axes of Luanda, that is, from the Port of Luanda to Cacuaco, Avenida Fidel Castro Ruz-Benfica, Port of Luan-da-Largo da Independência and Cidade do Kilamba-Largo da Independência.

In addition to the Surface Metro, the Luanda Master Plan, already approved by the Executive, also foresees two surface metro systems, namely the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and the Rapid Rail Vehicle (rails), abbreviated as VLT.

The first is used for urban transport systems with buses, being the target of considerable improvements in infrastructure, vehicles and operational measures that result in a more attractive quality of service.
