The idea of its creation developed more naturally at the end of the 2000s, with the large-scale economic crisis, when the programmer Satoshi Nakamoto published an article with the central ideas of the project. In the following year, he developed the system's main code, which thus revolutionized the way people relate to money.
The first block of 50 bitcoin coins, commonly called “genesis block" at hacker community, was mined in January 2009, by Nakamoto himself. Since then, programmers and novelty enthusiasts have spent their lives mining and making the first transactions using the currency, which definitely caught the attention of many people.
The Bitcoin mining system works over the internet, using public key cryptography and a file that records all transactions made to create codes, called digital coins. Another specificity is that the concept created by Nakamoto has the characteristic of self-regulation based on a computerized mining system, which is considered a solution for the future of digital money and an alternative to conventional currencies.
All these features give thenew money” of the internet a decentralized character, allowing to transact with bitcoins in different parts of the world with low fees and free from the regulation of the States or the control of the banks. Therefore, bitcoin generates more privacy for its users, since there is no need to link personal information to the transaction.
All that we talked about above gave more publicity to bitcoins and, in the opinion of some enthusiasts of the subject, this was complemented by a series of theoretical advantages of the currency in relation to the traditional banking system, such as: person-to-person transfers without the intermediary of banks or central regulation, lower rates, easy opening of accounts and few prerequisites to get started🇧🇷 These advantages, for those who use bitcoin, are responsible for the increase in the number of users of the currency in the last seven years.
According to the latest figures from BitPay, a company specializing in bitcoin operations, more than 100 commercial establishments in the world accept bitcoins as a payment method.
These virtual money enthusiasts include some startups and even large technology companies, such as WordPress, Mega, Reddit, Dell, Google and Microsoft, as well as a universe of millions of people of different nationalities interested in the innovative and revolutionary nature of criptomoeda, who legally buy and sell goods and products over the internet or in physical channels, despite the fact that most transactions take place in the digital environment.
It might be new, but bitcoins can also be exchanged for silver or gold on specialized exchanges. For example, in Berlin, Germany, it is already possible to pay bitcoins in cafes, bars, restaurants and record stores.
