INTRODUCING iCLOUD

Do you use an iPad or iPod Touch in addition to your iPhone? Do you also use a Mac or a Windows PC? In any of the above cases, even if you are only using an iPhone, you can use iCloud to sync, backup and store files through Apple's free cloud-based service.

iCloud is a feature that allows you to sync your music and movies, as well as your photos, contacts, calendars and other varied types of files wirelessly to iCloud. In short, it means that all your files will be saved on Apple's servers and available to all your compatible devices, completely automatically, provided, of course, that you have internet access.

But now the question arises: How does the iCloud service work? First, you must have the most recent version of iOS and OS X (for those using Windows, there is an installation tool in the iCloud control panel, which you can access via the link http://bit.ly/win_icloud), and where to join this service you need an Apple ID (see episodes 7 and 8 to find out how to create an Apple ID).

Once you've successfully joined iCloud, you'll have to choose which files you want to synchronise: contacts, calendars, reminders, notes, favourites, email account configuration and other things. A particularity is that instead of making the backup on your Mac or PC, through iTunes, your device will synchronize with iCloud through your Wi-Fi network, it doesn't matter if you manually connect your device to the computer through of a cable.

Now, if you only have a Mac and no iOS devices, iCloud can back up vital data from applications present on your Mac, such as Mail, Calendar and Safari. But note that it will not make backups of all the documents and data on your hard drive, so if you want to do that, the editorial staff at MenosFios recommends using Time Machine, which is a native feature of OS X, or, on the other hand, adopting another online service.

KEEPING SYNCHRONY

Still talking about iCloud synchronization, we have iTunes in the Cloud, which allows you to download all purchased music and movies to your devices over a wireless network. You can use the same operation for your purchases on the App Store and iBook Store, where all the items you buy are available on any device that has your Apple ID, not just on the device where the purchase was made.

Another great feature of iCloud is the My Photo Sharing, which allows you to automatically transfer all the photos taken with any of your iOS and Mac devices, making it on all of them. Regarding the size, iCloud stores up to 1.000 photos, which will be available for the next 30 days, so you can move them to a specific album, that is, if you want to create a copy on another device other than the one that captured the photos. Don't forget that the photos will still be in the Camera Roll, unless you delete it manually.

iCloud also allows you to create shared albums, so that other people can view your photos and videos, if they are using versions from iOS 7 or iOS.

USE iCLOUD ON THE INTERNET BROWSER

  1. Your Username: Once you activate iCloud on your iPhone, you can access it from the address icloud.com🇧🇷 To inform you that your data will be available through the browser of any device connected to the internet, no matter whether it is a tablet, smartphone or computer.
  2. E-mail: When setting up an iCloud email account (Settings>iCloud>Email), you will be able to read your email here (photo). Also inform that in that same location, you will not have access to other email accounts, such as Gmail.
  3. Contacts: Synchronize your contacts with iCloud and click here(picture) to view them. If you lose your device, you will still be able to recover all your friends' personal information from another device.
  4. Find My iPhone/iPad: Having activated this service, you will be able to view the location of your device on the map, which can be very useful if you lose it.
  5. iWork on iCloud: If you frequently use iWork apps like Number or Pages, you also have the ability to save files online. To do this, you just have to activate iCloud synchronization for each application, in Settings>iCloud>Documents/Data. To inform you that the saved files can be accessed here (photo) and edited within the browser, regardless of whether the device has the application installed or not.
