The new social network of Meta, the group that manages Facebook and Instagram, should get a web version this week. If so, it becomes possible to use all the functionalities of the Threads on your computer and not just on your phone.

The platform that competes directly with the former Twitter, now X, has been testing the novelty internally in recent weeks, as revealed last Friday by Adam Mosseri. The Instagram CEO also stressed that the web version of Threads still needed some adjustments to be released to the public, but several media are announcing that the launch will really happen soon. The Wall Street Journal is one of them, although the newspaper also cites sources close to the process that admit the possibility of the launch being postponed for some time and not happening this week.

The launch of Threads was accompanied by great expectations, which led to the almost immediate adhesion of more than 100 million users to the social network. In the weeks after the launch interest waned and many of those who registered stopped “appearing”.

BUT: Threads gains functionality for reposts and news in the feed

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, said in the presentation of the company's latest financial results, that Threads' success was not fleeting and that he was surprised on the positive side, with the number of registered users returning to the platform.

External data such as those from Similar Web showed, meanwhile, that the number of active users on the social network dropped from week to week. Between the second and third week of July, the number of active users accounted for on Threads rose from 49 to 23,6 million, a quarter of Twitter's active users, as Business Insider underlines. The numbers result from monitoring traffic on Android devices.

Those who use the platform claim more features, and in fact there is an effort in this direction. At the end of July, one of the most requested novelties by those using the platform was launched: the possibility of organizing the wall only with posts from the accounts followed. At the same time, Meta revealed that it was also possible to translate content.

There are promises to continue improving Threads at other points, namely with regard to search capacity. Officially, the app is not yet available in the European Union.
