After the criticisms pointed out by the head of the US Federal Communications Commission and the call for the app to be banned from Google and Apple stores, TikTok went public to respond to the accusations and promise to do better in the future.

According to Reuters, the company responsible for TikTok, ByteDance, confirmed that workers in China do, in fact, have access to US user data. However, ByteDance claims that these workers are "subject to a series of robust security controls and clearance approval protocols overseen by a US-based security team".
