TikTok will leave the phones of New York government officials

The city of New York, in the USA, decided to ban the application of short videos TikTok on devices used by local government officials. State government agencies now have 30 days to ensure the app is not installed on workers' mobile devices.

The directive was issued this Wednesday, the 16th, and has immediate effect. Note that the state of New York had already issued a similar ban in 2020, but until now, some cell phones from marketing departments still had access to the app.

BUT: TikTok sues Montana, USA, over state law banning apps

"Even though social media is a great way to connect New Yorkers with the city, we need to make sure we always use these platforms safely.", can be read in the statement sent by a spokesperson for the local government to The Verge website.

Remember that TikTok continues to be the target of suspicion due to the links between the company and the Chinese government, with several countries having already banned the application from being installed on the mobile phones of their workers for fears of espionage.
