A Mozambique Telecom, SA. (Tmcel) became the first operator in Mozambique to launch the pre-launch of 5G technology, which follows on from technological modernization and expansion, framed in the context of the development strategy of the country's National Telecommunications Network.

The launch of 5G technology was in partnership with Huawei, the Chinese multinational that is implementing the project, where for the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications, Manuela Rebelo, 5G technology will bring major changes to public and private services, boosting thus the economic development of Mozambique, similarly to what is happening in the world.

"5G technology is the highest cutting-edge technology in the telecommunications industry and, at Tmcel, it will initially operate in conjunction with the 4G network, before its fully autonomous development over time.“, said Manuela Rebelo, also informing that with the 5G network Mozambique will be able to strengthen its base for growth through the intensification of economic activities in the dominant sectors and the diversification of others.

According to the Deputy Minister, the advantages that 5G brings to the country are immense, thus allowing many structural, systemic and development challenges to be overcome, using next generation technologies and solutions, in several important sectors, such as medicine, agriculture, education and others.

BUT:  Tmcel begins the second phase of modernizing its network

On the other hand, for the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tmcel, Mahomed Rafique Jusob, the introduction of 5G in Mozambique is a special moment as it demonstrates that the country is on the wave of modern technology in the world.

"It is a service that not all countries have. It is a high quality service to achieve greater connectivity at a speed up to 10 times higher than the speed currently existing in the country“, said Jusob, also informing that the 5G technology is not provided by the operators, but a service for all Mozambicans.

The event was also attended by the Director General of Huawei Mozambique, António Hou, who informed that “together we must work tirelessly to make high-quality telecommunications reach everyone, keeping people connected".

It should also be noted that the entry of 5G in Mozambique is also a big step and a new and more efficient way to communicate, without forgetting that the country has become one of the first African countries to commercialize the 5th generation of wireless communication technology , with Tmcel being one of the first operators in Africa, majority owned by the State, to pre-launch the technology in question.
