Twitter announces new security measures to combat aggression and harassment

O Twitter announced more security measures and prevention of harassment, assaults and abuse on its network. The changes will allow users to have greater control over what they see on the social network.

According to the company's vice president of engineering, Ed Ho, Twitter is working on identifying users who have their accounts frequently suspended and wants to prevent them from creating new profiles.

"This new measure specifically targets accounts that are created only to abuse and harass others."

Twitter will now stop notifying users of conversations initiated by someone blocked or silenced by them. In late January, Ed Ho published in his account that “making Twitter in a safer place is the main focus and now we are moving more urgently than ever".

To prevent harassment, abuse and abuse from further spreading, Twitter will also identify and hide potentially abusive or low-quality tweets. This will make the relevant conversations always in evidence, but hidden tweets will still be accessible to anyone who searches for them.

The change consists of removing tweets from the results that contain potentially sensitive content and messages from blocked and silenced accounts.
