Currently in Uganda, the tax for the use of social networks, said tax was launched from 1 July, 2018 only paid who want to have access to services such as Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and many others.

But it appears that this tax is already having its negative impact, based on data released by the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), the tax has had a significant impact on the number of Internet users in the East African country as a result there was a drop of 3 million Internet users in a period of 3 months.

O which turns out to be interesting, is when you take a look at the data released by the Uganda Communications Commission, is that approximately only half of the Internet users in Uganda are actually paying the tax on social networks, causing tax revenues collected by him were very far from what the government expected.

In the last three months of the quarter (July to September 2018) under review, both the number of contributors to that tax and the figures for revenues were on a downward trend. The figures indicate subscribers who used the service with the tax paid at least once in the quarter, 50,4% of Internet subscribers were enjoying the service with the tax on social networks paid by the end of September 2018 ", says a statement from the Uganda Communications Commission.
