European Union provides 5 million euros for national incubators

The ambassador of the European Union in Angola, Jeannette Seppen, and the vice president of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for Africa, Sérgio Pimenta, formalized today(09), the joint signing of the agreement to implement the Support Project for Incubators and Entrepreneurship, in an event attended by the MenosFios team and guests from the Angolan Government.

According to the words of the ambassador of the European Union, Jeannette Seppen, the project represents “a fundamental foundation for the establishment of constructive partnerships between various actors, which will encourage the creation of decent jobs for all".

Our country will receive five million euros, with the aim of supporting and fostering entrepreneurship over about 56 months and specifically working with business incubators related to the sectors of Finance and Technology, as well as the agro-industrial sector and poultry production. In addition to Angola, the program will include other African countries, namely Ethiopia, Madagascar and Somalia, and the total amount provided by the European Union in the respective program will be 23 million euros.

According to information made available to journalists about the program, the main intervention objectives are to promote employment and economic sustainability, based on the 2030 Agenda and the Africa Europe Alliance for sustainable development and employment, creating for the effect of social and economic partnerships with African countries. It should also be noted that this new project to support business incubators will allow the creation of value chains and improve access to the market, especially for young entrepreneurs and women entrepreneurs.

On Angolan territory, the European Union works in partnership with the national government to strengthen the private sector, foster job creation and improve the business environment, in order to guide the economy beyond the oil sector and generate jobs and value added for the country.

The European Union currently finances several programs, namely to support income-generating activities in the cultural sector, to support trade and exports, to strengthen the private sector by facilitating financing for Medium and Small Enterprises, among others.
