UNITEL announces the selection of the 3rd edition of the “Women for the Future” program

A UNITEL announced yesterday, November 30th, the 51 university students selected for the 3rd edition of the scholarship program “Women for the future”, whose application process ran from the 26th of April to the 15th of July.

During the application period, the telecommunications company reported that it received a total of 261 applications, and of the 96 eligible submissions, 51 students were approved.

The country's capital, Luanda, is the province with the most representatives, with 44, while Benguela has 3, and finally Uíge, Namibe, Huambo, Moxico and Benguela, all with a candidate.

According to what was revealed, all applications were evaluated by a Selection Committee made up of Directors and Managers of the company, based on several criteria considered key in the performance of candidates in Secondary Education in the main technical disciplines, namely Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, not forgetting of course the score of 14 as the average of the final performance in secondary education and the average of the entrance exam to universities.

The same evaluation committee also took into account the fact that the candidates were between 18 and 25 years old and had attended school in the areas of Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Informatics, Networks, Electromechanics, Mechatronics or Electronics and Computer Science.

The Scholarship ProgramWomen for the future”, created in 2018, aims to promote gender equality in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Angola, without forgetting that it is a program that aims to reward national excellence and contribute to improving the skills of Angolan women in the branch of ICT.

Regarding the grant made available by UNITEL, it includes monetary amounts to cover enrollment, tuition fees and mandatory bibliography, in addition to an amount for general expenses until the completion of studies, provided that the grantee maintains an annual average of 14 values.

Finally, it should be noted that during the scholarship period, each student will also have the support of a volunteer and experienced collaborator mentor from UNITEL's technical area to guide their studies and career development.
