Unitel and Huawei Sign Partnership to Provide Quality Education to Angolan Students

A memorandum was signed between UNITEL and HUAWEI, at an event that took place at the Hotel Palmeiras in Talatona, this Tuesday, September 15th

The Memorandum aims to establish a partnership so that both companies can contribute to the access to digital educational content in schools in the country, thus providing a quality education system for Angolan students.

The signing of a memorandum of understanding that portrayed the beginning of the UNITEL-HUAWEI Partnership in the context of the use of digital resources specifically to promote use in schools. It is framed in the social responsibilities of both parties.

Eunice of Carvalho, Deputy General Director for Corporate Affairs at UNITEL, said that in the first pilot phase the provinces of Huambo and Bié are part of the priorities of this partnership that will benefit from donations of equipment and information in resources through the unitel network, which will allow access to the internet and other information resources, specifically:

  • 50 Computers
  • 480 tablets
  • 50 Projectors

Remember that the Chinese company HUAWEI is already a partner of the Angolan company UNITEL, for some years in the technology area.

With the formalization of the partnership, UNITEL will make the internet available while HUAWEI assumes responsibility for advanced equipment and technologies, said Cecília Fernandes, responsible for UNITEL's social area.

 

According to a Liuhongzhen Michael,  CEO of HUAWEI in Angola, the company will invest around US $ 60 million in Angola to build a HUAWEI headquarters that will include a training and innovation center and an experience center, with the aim of bringing the most advanced technologies and training Angolans in the areas of technological research and development.

The implementation of this contract is scheduled for the end of the year 2021.
