The world of technology does not stop surprising us! This time around, the big news is the process that Boston University is pursuing against Apple, requiring the end of iPhone, iPad and MacBook Air sales relying on a patent registered by the University at 22 years ago just missing 2 to expire.

According to this patent, it is a method created at Boston University to isolate “tapered filaments of gallium nitride” (Do not worry, I have no idea what it is either.), it seems Apple used this method during the construction of the iPhone, iPad and MacBook Air. In the lawsuit, Boston University asks Apple to make a calculation of all profits made on such products and reimburse it for misuse of its patent. They are also requested to no longer be manufactured, distributed or sold.

Recently, Gradiente, a Brazilian technology company, also filed a lawsuit against Apple claiming the rights for the “iPhone” brand in the Brazilian market, another case was that of Proview, which had registered the iPad brand in China and got 60 million USD from the Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),.

Apparently, the “pirate”Steve Jobs was not so careful with“ patent trolls ”(companies whose sole purpose is to buy patents to profit in the future). According to a study by Boston University itself, trolls are responsible for an annual loss of 29 billions of dollars worldwide.

As if Samsung was not enough, Apple just won another enemy. For now we stay here, with the promise to keep up with all the news of the progress of this process.
