O WhatsApp and Google closed a partnership to offer free backup on Google Drive, however, all backups older than one year will be deleted on devices with a system Android.
The news was obviously a relief to all those who want to have the memory of what was said and sent, however, if you do not make a copy of the conversations fast you may have the misfortune of everything that has been deleted. This change becomes effective from 12 in November of 2018.
Google has informed how users should proceed to prevent information loss. All users must manually backup before the announced date. In addition, it recommends that users follow these steps:
1. Verify that your WhatsApp client for Android has been backed up, if not, open the application on your Android smartphone to "Definitions", "Conversations" e "Backup".
2. If you want to update any existing backups, manually back up your WhatsApp client before 30's 2018 October
System users iOS you will not have to worry about the situation because there is a partnership between WhatsApp and the iCloud service.
