World robotics runners-up benefit from scholarships

Os young Angolans who finished second (silver medal) in the 2023 edition of the world robotics championship for students (under 18 years old), called FIRST GLOBAL, which took place from October 6th to 11th in Singapore, will benefit from scholarships at the Technological Training Center of the Telecommunications Institute (CFITEL).

The information was given in a meeting with the Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Mário Oliveira, who congratulated the boys on their achievement.

The students, highlighted the leader, were trained by the Angolan robotics and technology startup Arotec, an Angolan startup in the Robotics and Technology sector.

"They competed with great world powers and proof of this is the result, in a competition with 191 countries”, he said.

A arotec, added the minister, is a partner of the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication in fairs and in carrying out some activities.

"It is one of the startups that supports youth in the area of ​​robotic science".

The five Angolan representatives to the competition, he highlighted, are also, from now on, the “ambassadors” of the National Space Program and will work together with the National Space Program Management Office (GGPEN), to contribute more to the satellite program and science space.

"I am confident that the five young people will certainly make a great contribution to the National Space Program, alongside other national staff”, advanced.

Mário Oliveira recognized that Angolan youth show immense potential, especially in the area of ​​new technologies.

"The winners represent an example of what we hope to be and be a beacon for all those interested in embracing the field of programming and robotic science".

The international competition titled FIRST GLOBAL CHALLENGE 192 countries participated in an event with more than 1000 students from all over the world. This year the competition aimed to build robots for teaching and to fulfill the tasks of the Hydrogens Horizons theme, which aims to encourage innovation and solutions for clean and renewable energy.

FIRST GLOBAL is an Olympic competition-style challenge that takes place every year in different countries in which 190 teams build and program a robot, which performs different tasks according to the theme based on major engineering challenges.
