The official website of Sporting Clube de Portugal (SCP) was the target of a DDoS attack. "We are making every effort to resolve the situation and restore normalcy", advances the club on its Facebook page.

As he explains, the attack, recorded yesterday morning, "consists of sending excessive requests from several computers that were also compromised, causing overload on the target servers". The high number of requests “aims at interrupting the normal operation of the website, causing constraints on access, which may even lead to the total unavailability of the service”.

The website of Futebol Clube do Porto (FC Porto) was also the target of a computer attack, a source from the club told Lusa today. “We are being targeted by a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack. There are millions of requests for access, which clog up the site, and have caused it to be down”, said an official source of the club.

BUT: Portugal fines companies without a plan against cyberattacks

According to the same source, FC Porto hopes that this situation will be resolved as soon as possible, ensuring that the attackers "do not enter the structure" of the dragons' website.

Since the beginning of this year, several Portuguese companies and entities have been victims of computer attacks. The attack on Impresa, owner of SIC and Expresso, took place in the first days of 2022, followed by an attack on the website of the Assembly of the Republic. In February, Vodafone, the Cofina group, Trust in News and Laboratorios Germano de Sousa were also attacked.

At the end of March, Sonae MC, owner of Continente, was targeted and, later, EDA – Eletricidade dos Açores, and the other members of the group, as well as the Lusa agency, joined the group of entities that were victims of attacks.
