O WhatsApp will start allowing users to have two accounts connected simultaneously, on the same smartphone. With this new feature, it will be possible to switch, in the same application, between a professional and personal account, no longer having to disconnect one to access the other or carry two cell phones.
The news was announced this Thursday by Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, Facebook. In a statement, the technology company details that the functionality of having two accounts at the same time will be available “for Android users over the coming weeks and months.” Users of the iOS operating system will have to wait to receive news about the availability of the new feature.
The option of having two WhatsApp accounts logged in at the same time can only be used by those who have a second phone number and a smartphone that accepts more than one SIM card. In this case, after inserting the second card, it is possible to configure the second account: open the settings, click on the arrow that will appear next to the username and click on “add account”.
The technology explains that “the user can control the privacy and notification settings in each account”. The new feature arrives after an update, which became available at the beginning of this year, which allowed the same WhatsApp account to be used on several cell phones.
