The messaging app WhatsApp changed its privacy policies, in order to introduce small adjustments to the support of older versions of operating systems, so that some smartphones will no longer have support for this social network as of April 01st.

According to the official statement, the messaging application will no longer work on Android smartphones running the operating system before the 4.1, that is, to be able to use WhatsApp you will need to have an Android with version 4.1 Jelly Bean or higher.

That version that will now be disabled was released in 2012, so any Android you bought in the last 6 or 8 years will probably still be able to support WhatsApp next year without any problems.

BUT: WhatsApp will allow you to transfer conversations between Android and iOS soon

For people who have a iPhone, WhatsApp will also stop working on iPhones with versions older than iOS 10, which was released in 2016. However, the iOS 12 version, is compatible with iPhone 5S released in 2013, so most iPhones of recent years will continue to be compatible.

If your operating system is out of date and the equipment still supports a more recent version of the operating system, the editorial staff of MenosFios recommends that you do not fail to update it, as a properly updated smartphone is a safer device.
