Recently, news about the end of support for the WhatsApp on Android and iOS. Models and brands appear that lose support, which is actually false. Now, and coming from a safe source – WhatsApp itself –, information has emerged about the end of support on Android. So, find out if you are affected.

It is normal for WhatsApp to change the support it provides to operating systems with its apps. As these versions evolve, specific needs arise that end up being lost in older versions, whether of Android, iOS or other systems.

The news now shows that at the end of October WhatsApp will lose support for another version of Android, thus becoming limited. Than the official website of the Meta messaging service reveals, will be limited to Android 5 or later version.

From October 24, 2023, only version 5.0 of the Android operating system or later will be compatible.

For now, WhatsApp can be used on Android 4.1 or later. With the change that will be applied on October 24th, many smartphones with the Google system will be left out of the list of supported ones and must therefore be updated or, if possible, replaced with a more recent one.

The existing information does not reveal any changes that will be applied in the cases of iOS or KaiOS. Support for these operating systems is in the case of iPhone on iOS 12 or later and KaiOS 2.5.0 or later including JioPhone and JioPhone 2.

As it is a system that is already many years old, Android 4 will have a small impact on the number of smartphones affected by the change. You more data rrecent place this version at around 0,7% to 0,5% of all devices still in use.

After a lot of false information and repeatedly advanced without any basis, an official change from WhatsApp has now arrived. The new minimum version of Android increases to 5, where it still manages to cover 1,8% of devices, equivalent to around 58 million cell phones and tablets.
